The alma mater of the Plesac brothers, Dan and Joe, Andrean lost in the state final eight in 2008, but have four D-I signees returning. LHP Thomas Polus (Georgetown), 2B Ryan Dineen (Eastern Illinois), C Kevin Franchetti (Ball State) and RHP/SS Adam Norton (Notre Dame) will seek the state title in 2009 under head coach Dave Pishkur, who is in his 30th year of coaching and boasts a 689-230 record.

The game was a classic with Andrean defeating Griffith by the score of 7-3.
